Customized Business Services, LLC (CBS) is a small business that aids other small businesses in Southeast Wisconsin. No small business or business owner is the same; they all have different or "custom" needs. CBS has been helping business owners since 2002 in creating customized bookkeeping solutions that work. Cost effective bookkeeping solutions that are easy to administer for companies that are too small to hire a full time bookkeeper, and too busy to have the owner do everything.
What I do -
In the simplest form I help out the small business owner in whatever way he or she needs help with. Most often it is with bookkeeping administration, documentation and technology. Other times it is just creating a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that will cut down a daily daunting task to a manageable level. I also help out new business owners work through the many tasks in starting up a new company - especially when they have never taken on such a challenge before. While new business owners may be horrified by start up tasks (Federal Id number, BTR, State withholding and sales taxes, type of entity, type of accounting system, types of inventory to just name a few) I've been there and done that, many times. Start up tasks don't have to be scary, they just have to be done correctly. I can also help out in the basic business management or administration side of a new business. Most new business owners want to start their own business because they know how to do certain things (a trade or a task) extremely well, most times though, bookkeeping is not one of those things. I can help out the new business owner get going, or an established business owner become organized and efficient.
What I don't do -
I don't create work for myself. I don't set up an accounting system where I'm the only person that knows how to utilize it. I don't leave the business owner scratching their heads wondering what was it that goes into cell C14 that makes this spreadsheet run (In other words, I like to make user-friendly spreadsheets). I don't do more than what is necessary or required by either the IRS or the business owner. I don't not-care. I don't think about how you will help me with an extra ten hours of work every week, but rather how I will be able to help you do accounting related tasks for yourself! I'm not looking to be your bookkeeper for the rest of my life, but to help you get going.
